Tree Pollen Allergy
There are few allergies more irritating than a tree pollen allergy. It is something that a lot of people suffer with. Although not dangerous in most cases tree pollen allergies are very uncomfortable. The real problem is that tree pollen is virtually impossible to avoid. There is pollen everywhere during the summer and even staying indoors usually won’t allow you to avoid the problem. That means that you are going to need to come up with another way to deal with the problem.
Pollen is the way that plants reproduce; it is used to allow one plant to fertilize another. This is how most trees reproduce, the send their pollen to be picked up by the wind and spread around so that new trees can grow. The pollen can actually travel very large distances, in some cases several hundred miles. While all trees produce pollen only a fairly small number are actually the cause of allergies. Some trees just happen to produce more allergens than others in their pollen. In general the more pollen a tree produces the more likely it is to cause allergies.
In almost all cases the reaction that people will have to a tree pollen allergy will be itchy eyes and a runny nose. In a few cases asthma can result but that is quite rare. Pollen allergies are seasonal with late spring and early summer being the most common time for them to occur. However a tree pollen allergy can be triggered any time although it is very rare for them to occur in the winter. Obviously some locations are far more likely to result in tree pollen allergies. The likelihood will depend on the number and type of trees in the area.
The problem with tree pollen allergies is that you can hardly avoid poilen in order to improve your health. In most cases when you have an allergy the solution is to avoid the cause of the reaction. This isn’t something you can do with tree pollen since it is pretty much everywhere. While staying inside with the windows closed can help to reduce your exposure there will still be some pollen that gets in. that means that you are going to have to come up with a different way to deal with your allergy to tree pollen.
In almost all cases the best and really only way to deal with a tree pollen allergy is to use an anti-histamine. It is also possible to get a hay fever shot which can help to deal with a tree pollen allergy. This is a form of immunotherapy that builds up your immune system by exposing you to small amounts of the allergen. In general you will need a series of shots in order for this to be effective. Other than that the only thing that you can do is to stay indoors when the pollen count is high, usually in the early morning.
